Our client envisioned a modern receipt scanner app that could help users eliminate manual receipt entry and streamline expense management through automation.
Many individuals, freelancers, consultants, small business owners, accountants, and tax professionals still rely on spreadsheets and manual data entry to organize receipts and track expenses. Managing large volumes of receipts, extracting information, categorizing expenses, and preparing reports often requires significant time and effort.
The client partnered with Space-O Canada as a technology partner to build Receipt2Sheets, an AI-powered receipt OCR app and expense tracking app capable of automatically extracting receipt data, organizing expenses, and synchronizing records directly with Google Sheets.

The client wanted a mobile-first receipt scanner app that would allow users to capture receipts instantly using their smartphone camera instead of manually storing paper receipts. Receipt images can be automatically stored in Google Drive for long-term backup and organization. The app creates structured folders, links images to spreadsheet entries, and allows users to securely access receipts whenever needed.
Expense Tracking & Automatic Categorization
The platform functions as a complete expense tracking app by automatically categorizing expenses into predefined categories such as travel, dining, office supplies, healthcare, transportation, and utilities. Users can customize categories and improve categorization accuracy over time.
Receipt Library & Smart Search
Users can access a searchable receipt archive with advanced filtering options based on vendor, category, date range, amount, and custom tags. This makes it easy to retrieve receipts for bookkeeping, auditing, reimbursements, and tax preparation.
Expense Analytics & Reporting
The app provides spending insights through charts, expense summaries, category breakdowns, transaction trends, and financial reports. Users can generate reports, export data, and analyze spending behavior across custom time periods.
